Sim from SLCG Kuching has asked me whether I would love to try JH5Pro from Jerry Harvey Audio, for sure I accept the kind offer and really keen to try another Balanced armature IEM,needless to mention that this is a CIEM(Custom In ear monitor) and the designer/audio engineer of JH5Pro is somebody that I really respect,so I can’t find any reason not to try this CIEM.
Do note that JH5PRO is a Custom IEM,means that this earshell is not ‘uniquely’ design for my ears,so those who has JH5Pro that specially customised for their ears, sure will get better sound than mine (Although I still can get good fit and good noise attenuation).

Basically it has quite similar to my Shure Se425mwhich emplys 2 speakers (drivers) in each of the earphone housing, one of the tweeter and one woofer. While it priced slightly higher (Not really) than SHure Se425,I will still doing comparison among them in this review work.
Design, Build Quality,Comfort,Noise Isolation and Mechanism
Design wise,it is something that is really unique. The colour itself (You can customise this when you are ordering them),is in blue(Left) and Red (Right) colour. JH5PRO is really nice and cool looking, which build solidly and with hard ear shell that can withstand a lot of pressure, it is quite big in size but it is extremely comfortable in ears. The comply alike ear tips really very comfortable when putting it into the ears, leave me worry to nothing and just focused more on music.
The JH5Pro has the cable that I really like, which is braided and thin, burden free and no much microphonic issues on the cable. While this JH5Pro is not specially designed for my ears (Every human has different shape of ears, that is why designing a Universal fit IEM is really hard and might be practically impossible),I still get good level of noise isolation, and seriously speaking,I think I am silly to talk so much on each of them,I will say that JH5PRO really let you enjoy the sound, without sacrified on comfort, build qualiy or whatsoever.
Sound Quality
JH5PRO tested with YuLong Audio D100 II and Stoner Acoustic UD100,JDS Labs Objective 2,Hippo CriCri,Govibe Minibox amplifier.
High : High is good as I expected, triangle and cymbal sounded nice, revealing and good. With no sibilant or distracting high.
Mid : Mid is quite good, guitar played with good sense of clarity and enough plucking. Vocal? I think it is quite good but not as what I expected, lack some expression and the thickness or layer that I would like.
low : With good level of impact and go quite low, fast and good impact. But it do not punch like how typical dynamic driver do,and don’t expected it to be. But it has a lot of detail in the low region.
Sound Signature : Rich,Clear and transparent. I don’t really think that JH5Pro let me felt short in any of the frequency range or anything regards sound. JH5PRO has good sound presentation,it don’t have excel in anything, but it do has above average performance on all of the area, this kind of good timbre, made it very enjoyable. While low impact is really something that you can feel, the impact is excellent. Fast and detail as you can expected from a BA CIEM.
Soundstage : Not really wide or deep, high or anything, but it is not bad. Better than most of the IEM I have tested. But it is just JH5PRO don’t have the ‘ambience’ there. Imaging and positioning is better than what I expected.
Instrument Separation : It is good and I can heard each of them clearly.
All tested tracks are in lossless format unless otherwise stated.
Larsson : Double Bass Concerto No:11 – Thorvald Fredin (Concerto for Double Bass)
Soundstage is nothing really expansive but what I am surprised at is how detail is the double bass(Bass Violin) here, go really low and the detail in low region is really impressive. In contrast, while my Se425 has leaner and sound, but speaking of low frequency detail and texture of the double bass,Se425 is losing, also in transparency and clarity(Although. Instrument separation is good. I have noticed the ‘vibration sound’ of the string itself, impressive.
淡水河边 – Yoshio Kimura
Again, this track play with good clarity and sound is rich as well. Generally,it defeat my Se425. Although I still thinking that its mid is a bit thin/hollow. I should said it is ‘not that full’. But it affect nothing,I will only made things ugly if I elaborate each area of sound frequency, but present as a whole,JH5PRO is really good.
La Campanella – Aerpr (Diabulous in Musica)
Everytime when I want to listen to Violin,I will play this song, the violin lacks some sweetness when compared to Se425. But good,I can say
Say anything – X Japan (Jealousy)
I love the piano that played by Yoshiki and the Vocal of Toshi, and it played nice and expressively. While it might be not the best vocal I ever listened to,it is good enough.
Il Mare Calmo Della Sera – Andrea Bocelli (Vivere)
Vocal is up front with good texture and quite expressive. In some aspect such as transparency, clarity and presence,it sounded better than Se425. Although I am thinking that Se425 might have better texture.
鼓诗 – 阎学敏 (炎黄第一鼓)
From the first hit of drum,I am thrilled by how much impact and detail (In low frequency) JH5Pro can provide. JH5PRO really has good impact, you can listened the vibration of the drum, the impact when the master of drum hit it harder. Speed and everything (rumbling) is particularly good,I will say ‘audiophile’ bass.
Sad but True – Metallica (Black Album)
Impact and speed is awesome. It has good speed that this song needed,no question asked, never enjoyed this as much as with other earphone/headphone that I have listened to.
Conclusion and Pairing

I can’t really find fault in JH5PRO performance,it can be performed better but it is really good enough and not really lacking in any area.
Good : It is good and performed good to excellent in every area.
Bad : Avoided this if you are tight on budget or difficult to find audiologist in your place.
JH5PRO from Jerry Harvey is really good,it is even better when you paired it right, well,JDS Labs Objective 2 made a sweet package for me. In fact,I have not really paired it with huge amount of device, but I think when it paired with JDS Labs Objective 2 amp and Yulong Audio D100II(DAC),it is already very satisfying. With Hippo CriCri,not so. While I think Stoner Acoustic UD100 Dac is not really resolve so much,I still think that Yulong D100II with Jds Labs Objective 2 made a good team-up.
The sound of it is really good. i love to listen to drum sound with JH5Pro,the impact and details there is awesome, with good positioning. JH5Pro is that good that I am thinking to get one if I don’t have the Shure Se425 with me. JH5Pro practically played most genre of song better than how Shure Se425 did(Which I think should be considered as good).
Good high, good mid, good low, what more can I expected? And now,I am really itching to try the JH16Pro,and see how things can turned up.
